Javanese

Javanese/Colorpoint Shorthair/Siamese - The personality characteristics of these three breeds are the same. The Siamese is the parent breed and is one of the world's oldest natural breeds of cats, and comes in the colors blue, seal, chocolate, and lilac pointed. The Colorpoint Shorthair was created in the 1940's by breeding Siamese to American Shorthairs because breeders wanted to expand the colors of the Siamese to red points, tortoiseshell points, and lynx points. Javanese were created by breeding the Balinese, a longhaired variation of the Siamese, to Colorpoint Shorthairs. They are a medium sized cat with females being between 5-7 pounds and males between 6-8 pounds. They are the ballerina of the cat fancy and although they look very skinny, they are extremely muscular and athletic. They require very little grooming as they have a close lying single coat. I recommend a weekly brushing with a rubber brush and trimming their nails every week to two weeks. These breeds are often called "Velcro kitties" as they demand to be around you at all times and do everything they can so that they are snuggled up to you as close as they can get. They are also extremely intelligent and talkative. We breed these breeds on a limited basis and usually have 3 litters per year. The average pet price range for these breeds of cats is $500-700. We occasionally have young retired adults available, and their price range is from $300-400. Some of the colors of these breeds we work with are seal, chocolate, red, and cream points, seal, chocolate, red, and cream lynx points, and seal and chocolate tortoiseshell points.
