Exotic

Exotic - The Exotic has been accepted in CFA since the 1960s
and was a hybrid of Persians bred to American and British
Shorthairs. They are bred to the same standard as Persians,
with one notable difference, their short, plushy coat. They
are a medium to large sized cat with males ranging from
10-16 pounds and females from 8-13 pounds. They take 4 years
to reach full size and maturity. They are often referred to
as the "lazy man's Persian" but they do still require just
as much bathing to make their coat stay in show condition.
For pet Exotics, monthly bathing is required, and some cats
require their eyes to be cleaned, but overall most Exotics
eyes do not drain like some Persians are known for, and
weekly combing with a metal toothed comb. The personality of
the Exotic is similar to a Persian, except they do not sleep
as much and are a lot livelier and follow you around like a
little dog. They constantly do things that will make you
laugh. They are considered a lap cat, are extremely
affectionate, and would fit well into any living situation.
They are not at all destructive and typically do not jump up
on anything higher than your bed. The average pet price
range of an Exotic shorthaired kitten is $500-800 and for a
longhaired kitten is from $400-600. We occasionally have
young retired adults available, and their price range is
from $300-500. Some of the colors of Exotics that we work
with are solids, parti-colors, smokes, tabbies, and
bi-colors.
